Conclusion

In conclusion, techniques for preparing and transplanting cryopreserved parathyroid tissue have been presented. Surgeons who perform parathyroid surgery should be familiar with these techniques. The success rate of using this technique is about 70% (see Table 60-2) versus better than 90% with autotransplantation of fresh parathyroid autografts.
