Cryotherapy results in minimal scarring. Vascular or hyper-trophic lesions are resistant and sometimes require multiple treatments 2 to 3 weeks apart. Most patients may experience pain and burning for 1 to 2 days. During these first days, the skin may be red and sensitive and may form a hemorrhagic bulla followed by sloughing. Infection and pyogenic granuloma formation are rare complications. In deeper cryotherapy, the potential damage to underlying neural structures must be considered. (See Tuggy Video: Wart Treatment.)
