Crisis Resolution Strategy

In addition to teaching coping styles and coping skills, a family physician can also provide a patient with general strategies for crisis resolution and provide specific strategies that are necessary in the special case of IPV. A crisis resolution strategy, based on the crisis principles, is composed of 18 steps (Box 45-3). The family physician may need to walk through some or all of these steps with the patient first before encouraging the patient to attempt some steps as a self-help strategy for the future.
