Crisis intervention and psychotherapeutic techniques are a firstline approach for a crisis or mass trauma (Bradley et al., 2005; NICE, 2005) (SOR: A).

Exposure-based CBT is recommended for patients with PTSD (Bradley et al., 2005) (SOR: A).

Psychoeducation, breathing and relaxation training, and homework can be helpful for PTSD (APA, 2004; Benedek et al., 2009; NICE, 2005) (SOR: B).

Psychological intervention is helpful after mass trauma or disaster if offered on a voluntary basis (Bisson, 2007) (SOR: B). Mandatory critical incident stress management (CISM, debriefing) is not helpful (Rose et al., 2004) (SOR: C).
