1. Introduce the concept of memorialization. Process the homework assignment. Encourage sharing ideas of what has been done and future intentions to commemorate their loved one.
2. Discuss the relationship of rituals to memorialization, continuing bonds, and creation of inner representations (new relationships) for about five to ten minutes. (Use information and examples from the opening comments for this session and previous chapters.)
3. Encourage the sharing of ideas of possible personal rituals and rituals already enacted to facilitate the grief process. (Many have experiences to share that may have not been recognized or integrated as therapeutic rituals.)
