Patients should notice relief of itching and discomfort within 1 to 2 days. The volume of discharge should also begin to decrease within a few days. If the condition recurs within 4 weeks or more than four times per year, the patient should be further evaluated or referred to a physician for evaluation of possible non-Candida infections, resistant organism, or other complicating factors, along with assessment of need for long-term suppressive therapy.
